Description
St Mary Magdalene's Church is a Grade I listed building located on Church Lane in Lyminster. It is a long structure that includes a chancel with a north chapel or vestry, a nave with a north aisle, a north porch, and a west tower. The chancel and nave date back to the Saxon period and were altered in the 13th century. The nave arcade is of transitional Norman style, while the lower part of the tower is from the 13th century and the upper part is in the Perpendicular style. The north porch was built in the 15th century, and the north chapel or vestry was added in the 19th century. The roof of the aisle is medieval and features heavy timbering with crown-posts. This church is a good example of medieval architecture and has not been extensively restored.
