Description

This is a row of ten terraced cottages, numbers 5 to 23, built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of beach flint with red brick detailing, although number 5 has been whitewashed. The roofs are pitched slate, and the cottages have brick chimneys. They are two storeys high. A detailed brick cornice with modillion ornamentation runs along the eaves.

Each cottage originally had a single window range and a front door, except for numbers 5 and 23 which are double-fronted with two window ranges. The upper windows are mostly casement style, except for numbers 7, 15 and 17 which have glazing bars. Ground-floor windows are double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, although number 23 has double-hung sash windows without glazing bars on both floors. Number 21 is unique, featuring double-hung sash windows with glazing bars on both floors, and a round-arched doorway with a fanlight. Number 23 has an additional decorative wooden gabled hood.

Numbers 5 to 23 (odd) and numbers 2 to 24 (even) form a group with numbers 24 to 30 (even) on King Street.
