Description

Gordon House and Richmond House are a pair of houses dating from about 1820, situated on The Steyne. They are three storeys high, with two windows each. The houses are stuccoed and feature a cornice and shaped parapet, with a carved lion couchant at the centre. Each house has a three-light curved bay window on all three floors. Hoods shelter the first-floor windows. A continuous iron balcony runs along the first floor, likely a later addition but with intact original glazing bars. The doorways are recessed and square-headed. Gordon House is number 25 and Richmond House is number 27. These houses, along with Salisbury House (numbers 9 to 17) and Steyne Hall, form a continuous group.
