Description
The stable block, located 150 yards northeast of Pyrford Court, is a building dating from around 1910, designed by Clyde Young in the Neo-Carolean style. It has a brick structure with a plain tiled roof and features seven stone-coped stacks. The building is two storeys high, with a dividing brick band over the ground floor, bracketed eaves, and quoined corners.
The facade is symmetrical with 18 bays, including three bay breaks at each end; the left end is now covered by later extensions. There are six bays on either side of a central arched carriageway. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, and there are part glazed doors beneath flat bracketed hoods on either side of the central opening. To the left on the ground floor, there are garage doors.
The central arch is framed by paired Doric pilasters, topped with a pediment, and features a square clock tower with an open Doric cupola on a lead pent roof above. Additionally, there is a weatherboard extension from the 19th century projecting from the left end.
