Description
Esgairs is a house dating from the early 16th century, with some remodelling from the early 18th century on the street front. It features a timber frame with brick infill at the rear and a combination of red and blue brick on the street front. The roofs are plain tiled, hipped with a gablet at the rear right and a large ridge stack to the left of centre. The building has a T-shaped plan with the main front facing the rear.
On the street front, the house is two storeys high, with a plain band above the ground floor. There is one leaded casement window under cambered heads on each floor, and a blocked window in the gable. The main front has one casement window on each floor to the right, and a 20th-century addition projecting from the left side that contains a ribbed door. The right-hand return front displays exposed framing and features a 17th-century door.
