Description
Causewayside is a Grade II listed timber-framed building, likely dating from the 17th century, with some alterations. It consists of two structures that are two storeys high, featuring high-pitched tiled roofs. Numbers 2 and 3 have three windows and a banded tile-hung first floor. They also have slightly projecting modern shop fronts beneath a tiled pentice that extends in front of Number 4, which is a slightly lower building with two storeys and an attic, characterized by a projecting returned gable end with small leaded easements. The first floor of Number 4 is also tile-hung, and it has two canted bay shop windows with glazing bars. The rear view reveals ranges at right angles to the road, differing in height and with hipped ends. Number 2 features tile hanging above and brick below, while the other buildings are constructed of coursed rubble with red brick dressings. There are various 19th-century and modern casements throughout.
