Description
The cottages at 3-7 Upper Hale Road date from the early to mid-18th century. They are likely a group of three buildings, with number 3 appearing to be a slightly later addition displaying a lower ridge line. Numbers 3 and part of number 7 are constructed of red brick, while numbers 5 and part of number 7 feature a striking combination of red and vitreous brick. All three cottages have projecting plinths, dentil brick eaves, and old tile roofs. Number 3 has two windows with a modern central door, and a blind panel is situated above the door. Number 5 displays a single three-light casement window and a plain door incorporating a vitreous panel. Number 7 features two three-light casement windows and a ledged door. The buildings form a group with the Church of St John the Evangelist and Hale Court.
