Description

The Ranger’s House, situated within Farnham Park, is an 18th-century folly. Constructed of brick, it is a two-story building with a wide, flat eaves cornice and a hipped roof covered with old tiles. The south-east front has five bays and features ogee-headed windows on the first floor and segmental-headed windows on the ground floor. A central entrance is accessed via a six-panel door surmounted by a two-panel leaded fanlight and a flat hood with a segmental pediment. All windows are four-light, mullioned, and transomed, largely retaining their original leaded lights. The house is rectangular in plan, with similar three-bay sides. Originally, it served as the residence of the Ranger to the Bishop of Winchester.
