Description
The barn at Sheephatch Farm dates from around 1600, with 18th-century alterations at the right end and 19th-century modifications at the left end. A 19th-century cattle shed is attached to the right end. The structure is timber framed, resting on a brick and rubble plinth, and features weatherboard cladding, with rubblestone walls at the rear and ends. The roof is plain tiled, extending in a catslide to the front right, with a ridge crest on the cattle shed roof. The barn has an L-shaped plan and consists of eight framed bays. There is a stable door on the left and double doors in the center, along with pigeon openings at the left end and some fixed casements on the front. Large doors are present in the center and on the cattle shed. Inside, the barn features a mixture of roof trusses, including both Queen post and strut types, with windbracing in the center bay and diagonal bracing on the wall frame at the right end.
