Description

This is an early to mid-19th century building comprising two houses, 60 and 61 West Street. The construction is brick, set on a projecting plinth, with a horizontal string course marking the first-floor level. The roof is hipped and covered in slate, and the eaves are flat. Each house has three windows on the first floor. The ground floor windows are two in number, with four panes per window, except for a 19th-century bay on the left-hand side of number 60. The front door of each house is recessed within a panelled surround, featuring pilasters, a small entablature that projects forward over the pilasters, and a pediment above. Number 61 has a five-panel door, and number 60 has a six-panel door. Numbers 60 and 61, together with their outbuildings and boundary wall to number 61, and numbers 63 to 65 (inclusive), incorporating an outbuilding to number 63, form a significant group.
