Description
Ridgeway Farm House is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with extensions from the 17th century and restoration in the 20th century, possibly around an earlier core. It is timber framed and sits on a plinth made of sandstone and brick, with sandstone rubble infill in the rear wing and jowled main posts. The front and rear are clad in sandstone rubble, while the upper sections feature red brick and some tile hanging. The roof is plain tiled, hipped with a gablet on the left and half-hipped on the right. The house has a T-shaped plan, with a wing extending at right angles to the rear and a small single-storey extension at right angles to the right side. It is two storeys high with deep eaves at the front and stacks at the rear. There are two leaded casement windows on the first floor and two larger windows below. A central gabled porch sits on a sandstone plinth, with rendered upper walls and a tile-hung gable. The door is now located to the right, set back in the re-entrant angle with the wing, which features a polygonal porch. The rear wing includes a 4-light wood mullioned window, and there is ogee bracing on the first floor to the left.
