Description
Upper Ridgeway Farm House is a hall house dating from the early 16th century, with 20th-century alterations and extensions to the rear and ends. The building is timber framed, with the ends exposed and sandstone rubble infill. The center features brown and grey brick cladding arranged in a chequerboard pattern, topped by a steeply pitched hipped roof with end gablets. It is positioned at right angles to the street and consists of one storey and attics, which are illuminated by two pentice roof dormers. There is an inserted stack to the right of center. The house has four framed bays, with two diamond-pane windows featuring cambered heads on the ground floor, and a round 20th-century window to the left. A 20th-century penticed rubblestone porch is located to the right of center, with a cambered head door. There is also a pentice to the right end and a wing to the rear. The interior has the frame exposed, although it has been restored.
