Description
The School House at St Catherine's School, formerly known as Church House, is a late 18th-century building that now serves as a school. It features colourwashed stucco over red and blue brick, which is exposed on the return fronts, and has a 20th-century hipped, plain-tiled roof. The structure is two storeys high, with a range that is set back to the left. There is a stack at the rear centre on the right range and a corbelled 19th-century front stack to the left, along with smaller stacks at the ends and rear.
On the first floor to the right, there are two 12-pane and two 16-pane tripartite glazing bar sash windows, while the ground floor has three tripartite windows. The entrance door, located to the right of centre, consists of six fielded panels and is framed by a pilaster-strip surround, topped with a roundel and bat-wing tracery transom light. To the left on the first floor, there are two 12-pane glazing bar sashes, and the ground floor has four small 16-pane sashes. There is a 20th-century range at the left end that is set back, and a single-storey ground floor range that projects until it is flush with the main block, featuring two 16-pane glazing bar sash windows on either side of a central four-pane sash.
