Description

Maskoun House is a farmhouse and former kiln, now serving as a house and flats. The front of Maskoun House dates from the 18th century, while its core is from the 16th to 17th century. The Hale Farm flats are also from the 18th century, and the buildings at 4, 5, and 6 Radford Close were converted from a kiln built in 1854 into housing in 1981.

Maskoun House features a stuccoed front with a slate roof and stands two storeys tall with five windows. It has 12-pane sash windows set in moulded architraves and a central six-panelled door, with the upper panels glazed, located beneath an early 19th-century portico supported by Tuscan columns, topped with a cornice and flat roof. The building has a plinth, and the rear is irregular, featuring a 16th to 17th-century wing that is timber-framed with brick infilling and an old tiled roof, along with a series of gables and irregular fenestration.

Nos 1-4 Hale Farm Flats form an L-shaped wing to the south of Maskoun House. These flats are constructed of brick, likely from the 18th century or earlier, and have dentil eaves and an old tiled roof. The fenestration is irregular, including two large dormers and some late 20th-century casements. The west gable features an oculus and a cambered loft door below.

Nos 4, 5, and 6 Radford Close form a long two-storey range to the south, originally a kiln range from 1854. This structure is also made of brick with brick dentil eaves and a tiled roof, comprising two parallel ranges with five openings above and four below, fitted with 20th-century windows. The east range has a series of 20th-century casements and doors.
