Description
This is a barn located to the west of Hydestile Farm House, dating from the 17th century, and possibly earlier. It is constructed with a timber frame set on a sandstone and brick plinth, featuring weatherboard cladding and a plain tiled roof that is hipped with a gablet on the right side. The barn is positioned at right angles to the street and consists of four framed bays with opposing double wagon doors that were originally located in the center. The roof has staggered butt purlins and is supported by Queen-post and Queen-Strut trusses. The barn has been re-roofed, with some windbracing visible on the left side. Additionally, there is a pentice hood and a corrugated asbestos extension on one side.
