Description
The barn and stables at Great House Farm date from the 17th century and were extended in the 19th century. They are constructed of sandstone rubble with brick dressings on the left side, while the right side features timber framing and weatherboarding. The roofs are plain tiled, hipped on the right and sloping down to the left. The building is one storey with attics on the left, which has three tile-hung, gabled loft doors that are located through the eaves. To the left, there are two double doors with transom lights above them. The ground floor includes six windows and two doors, all with cambered heads and set in brick surrounds. The barn on the right consists of five framed bays with central opposing wagon doors. It features diagonal bracing in the wall frames, braced posts supporting a staggered butt purlin roof, and a framed pentice at the rear.
