Description
The front wall and railings to The Old Steppe House date from the 18th century and are made of coursed rubblestone and brick. The retaining wall is approximately 1 metre high and features stone with vertical brick strips and brick-on-edge coping, which supports the railings. The railings are made of wrought and cast iron, with diagonally-set bars topped with spear finials and turned standards that have rose finials. At the left end, there is a gateway with brick piers and a spiralled overthrow topped with a twist finial. The right end has a rebuilt section of brick wall that includes a round archway.
