Description
Nos 80, 81, and 82 on West Street are a timber-framed range with deep old tile roofs and brick cladding, refronted in the late 18th century to early 19th century. Nos 80 and 81 are a pair of cottages under the same roof as No 82. They are two stories tall, featuring two-light casement windows and two six-panel doors located in the outer corners, with the upper panels glazed and sheltered by flat hoods on cut brackets. No 80 has a brass knocker shaped like a female head, while No 81 has a brass lion head knocker. No 82 is also two stories and made of brick, with a taller frontage. It has a moulded and bracketed wood cornice, two three-light windows, and a single central window on the first floor. The ground floor features a plain 19th-century shop with three windows and two doors, framed with panelled pilasters and a fascia. The timber framing is exposed behind, and there is a massive stage at the edge of the roof hip in No 80. Nos 75 to 94, including Nos 86A and 88A, form a group with these buildings.
