Description

The Old House is a mid-16th century cottage, potentially the surviving portion of a larger house. It is timber framed, with white-washed brick infill on the ground floor and red and blue brick infill in the exposed frame above, all beneath plain tiled roofs that are hipped with a gablet to the right. The building is L-shaped, with extensions at the rear. It has two storeys and a crowstepped stack at the rear. The front range has three framed bays, featuring tension braces to the first floor centre and right. There are two leaded casement windows on the first floor, and three 20th-century windows on the ground floor. A square bay window with a window above is present on the left-hand return front. A door leads to the rear, situated within the angle of the extensions.
