Description

Nos 1 and 2 Church Passage is a building dating from 1860, originally serving as the house for the schoolmaster and schoolmistress. Designed by the architect Colston of Winchester, it is two storeys high and faces east towards the school, featuring three windows. On the right-hand end, there is a large projecting gable with an external chimney and one window on the returning wall. The south side has one large and two small gables. The building has casement windows, some of which have pointed trefoil heads. It is constructed of stone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, topped with a red tile roof that includes two gables on the west front. Entrances are located in Church Passage. The building has been recently restored by the Farnham Trust. It is part of a group of listed buildings in Church Passage, Churchyard, Upper Church Lane (North West Side), Middle Church Lane, Lower Church Lane (West end), and Vicarage Lane, as well as the boundary walls to Nos 13, 14, and 15 West Street.
