Description

The Old Forge is a house dating back to the 16th century, with a front facade dating to the early 18th century. It is timber framed with brick infill and cladding to the front, featuring alternate bands of fishscale and diamond tile hanging above. The upper portion of the rear frame is rendered. The roof is tiled, half-hipped to the rear, with end ridge stacks offset to the right end. The building has a T-shaped plan, including two framed bays to the rear wing. The front elevation features regular fenestration with 20th-century diamond-pane leaded casement windows; two 5-light and one small one-light window are located on the first floor to the left, with two windows on the ground floor. A central ribbed door is situated within a gabled porch. The rear wing has an exposed frame.
