Description

This chest tomb, located 8 yards southeast of the south chapel of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, is dedicated to James Eldbrace, who died in 1815. It is made of stone and sits on a moulded stone plinth that tapers towards the base. The sides and ends feature raised oval panels with floral decorations at the corners. The tomb has tapering corner piers that are diagonally fluted and a flat lid. It is enclosed by an iron railing. The inscription on the tomb is partly illegible as noted during the last survey.
