Description

77-83 High Street is a row of houses with shops at each end, dating from the 18th century and altered in the 19th century, with some parts restored. The building features a mix of construction styles: part timber framed, with red and blue brick in the center on a rendered plinth, roughcast with applied timber framing on the right end, and whitewashed brick on the left end. The roofs are plain tiled and have been restored on the right side, with stacks located at the rear.

The structure is two storeys high and has a plain band with one course of blue headers as decoration above the ground floor center, along with boarded eaves. On the first floor, there are four glazing bar sash windows in the center, and two 19th-century sash windows in moulded frames on the right. The left end, which is No. 77 (a butcher's shop), features a 19th-century half-glazed door flanked by plate glass windows and protected by a copper tent porch hood supported by thin pillars.

To the center is No. 79, which has a six-panel door with the top two panels glazed, located to the left of center under a flat porch hood on brackets. No. 81, to the right of center, has a four-panel door, while No. 83 (an antique shop) has a further six-panel door beneath a dentilled porch hood on brackets. The right-hand return front displays exposed timber framing.
