Description
Colegates is a house dating from the 15th century, with additions from the 19th century at both ends. It has a timber-framed core that is clad in red brick, sitting on a rubblestone plinth, with rendered sections above. The roof is plain tiled and half hipped, featuring a large central stack and smaller stacks at each end. Originally, it was a hall house with a lobby entrance. The building is two storeys high and has five casement windows across the first floor. The ground floor windows are leaded and set beneath projecting mouldings. In the centre, there is a half-glazed door within a rectangular half-glazed porch, which has a panelled dado wall on a rendered plinth below. To the right, there is a double gable front extension that is brick and tile hung, with weatherboard gables and casement windows; the ground floor windows have cambered heads. To the left, there is a half hipped extension with applied timbering on the first floor.
