Description
Gaysham Farmhouse is a late 16th century or early 17th century timber-framed house that has a later front. It is two storeys high with an attic and features four very wide windows. The building has a high-pitched, swept tiled roof with boxed eaves. The chimney consists of three conjoined shafts with cornices at various levels. The front, made of red brick with blue headers, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The house has two and three-light 19th century casement windows, with those on the ground floor positioned under segmental brick arches. There is one four-panel door and one plank door set in a moulded frame with a hood above. A brick in the door jamb is inscribed "W.S. 1788," which may indicate when the front was redone. A fire insurance sign dated 1822 is visible on the first floor. At the back, there is a two-storey, two-window extension, and some timber framing is exposed on the rear wall.
