Description
Farley and Wolfelands is a late 17th century house of large proportions, with an early 19th century left wing. The building is now divided into two parts, with the eastern section, "Farley," further subdivided into flats. It was originally built by John Price as his family seat. The house has two storeys and an attic, featuring five windows. It has a high-pitched hipped tiled roof with two compound stacks that have moulded cornices and three leaded dormers. The heavy projecting moulded wood eaves cornice is adorned with scroll modillions. The front is made of brick with a plinth and a moulded first-floor band. The sash windows have glazing bars, with a Venetian window at the centre of the first floor, all set under gauged brick arches. There is a 19th-century trellis porch at the door on the left. The east return shows a similar elevation but retains original mullioned and transomed windows, along with a 19th-century porch and a canted bay. The west wing has a hipped slate roof with a deep panelled soffit supported on carved brackets. In the centre, there is a metal canopy held up by slender white-painted posts. The ground floor features three tall French windows, while the upper floor has three sash windows with bars and Venetian shutters. On either side of the main structure, there are one-storey supporting wings with ridge slate roofs, and the gable end facing south projects in front of the main south elevation.
