Description

This chest tomb, possibly dedicated to John Shore, is located 20 yards northwest of the north aisle of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Lingfield. It features a stone construction on a stone plinth, with panelled sides and baluster angle piers. The west end displays cherub heads carved in sandstone. The flat lid is inscribed and has a moulded edge, although the inscription was partly illegible at the time of the last survey.
