Description
South Hale Farm House is a house dating from the 16th century, with a 17th-century cross wing to the left. It features a timber frame with brick cladding on the right and the end of the cross wing, and coursed stone cladding on half of the cross wing. The upper part has red and blue brick infill laid diagonally at the top of some frames. The roof is plain tiled, with a rebuilt 20th-century ridge stack on the right and an end offset corbelled stack on the left wing. The building is L-shaped and has two storeys, with three framed bays on the right that display exposed curved bracing and two casement windows on the first floor. The three-bay wing has two casement windows on the first floor as well. There is a 20th-century part-glazed leaded door located to the right of centre in the right half, which is sheltered by a gabled open porch supported by wooden posts on brick dado walls. At the rear left, there is a 20th-century brick extension that is at right angles to the main structure.
Inside, the frame is visible in the ceiling and walls, featuring a chamfered spine beam and a deep brick fireplace with a wooden lintel.
