Description

The Old Cottage is a house dating from the 18th century, which was restored in the early 20th century by E.G. Dawber. It is constructed of red brick with blue brick headers and features a parallel range of plain tiled roofs with end stacks that are offset to the left. The building has two storeys and an attic, which is adorned with three hip-roofed diamond-pane leaded casement dormers. The front of the house is regular, with a plat band over the ground floor. There are three casement windows on the first floor, with four-light windows in the outer bays, and the ground floor windows are set under cambered brick relieving arches. The central entrance features a part-glazed door beneath a cambered arch, topped with a hipped hood. At the rear, there is a wing that is at right angles to the main structure. A 20th-century single-storey bungalow is connected to the rear of the house by a one-storey link, but this is not included in the listing.
