Description

Nos. 75-79 on High Street is a row of cottages dating from the late 16th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The cottages are timber framed, featuring whitewashed brick cladding on the left, colourwashed cladding in the center, and incised render cladding on the right. They have plain tiled roofs, with machine tiles on the left and center sections. The buildings are two stories high and include a square ridge stack on the left, a rendered ridge stack to the right of center, and an end ridge stack on the right.

The windows are irregularly arranged, with five windows on the first floor and two on the right that have pseudo-leading. The ground floor features a double sash window on the left under a wooden lintel, a four-light shop window to the left of center, and a square bay shop window projecting to the right of center. There are also two small square bay windows at the right end. The left side has a six-panel door with the top two panels glazed, while the center has a half-glazed door leading to Half Moon Cottage (now a photographers studio). To the right, there is a 20th-century panelled door for No. 79.

This row of cottages is included for its group value with the Three Mariners Inn.
