Description

Witwood is a house built in 1898 by Sir Edwin Lutyens. It features whitewashed brick and a plain tiled roof. The building has one storey and an attic, with a gable at the center and gables at each end. There are square brick stacks located at the rear of the ridge, to the left and right of the center. The roof has a concave shape, extending down over the single-storey projecting ends. The first floor has two camber head eight-pane casement windows in the center. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door with a margin light, situated in a recessed porch that is sheltered by a projecting curved flat hood. There are screen walls at the ends, which are topped with hipped roofs and feature arched entrances in the center. Additional casement windows are present on the return fronts, along with a parallel range and a wing that extends at right angles to the rear.
