Description

The Entrance Lodges to the Royal Military Academy were built between 1807 and 1812 by James Wyatt. They are constructed of colourwashed stucco and feature hipped slate roofs, with pyramidal roofs over the end pavilions. The structure consists of a central lodge or guardroom flanked by two side pavilions in Antis. It is a single-storey building with central ridge stacks.

The central guardroom is rectangular and is surrounded by a Greek Doric colonnade, which includes eight columns along the street front and three on the return fronts. There are three glazing bar sash windows in the wall behind the colonnade facing the street, and a half-glazed door is located on the left-hand return front.

On either side of the guardroom, there are two square gate piers with moulded plinths and capitals, which are connected to the guardroom by iron railings that feature roundel bands. The end pavilions are square and have a parapet entablature above, supported by Greek Doric columns in Antis, flanking a central glazing bar sash window. Glazed doors are present on the return fronts of these pavilions.
