Description

Thamesfield House is a late 18th-century house that has been divided into flats. It is constructed of dun-colored brown brick and features hipped slate roofs, which are now hidden by parapets. The building has two storeys and attics above a basement storey. There are multiple stacks to the left of the center, adorned with diagonal brick dentils and corbelled tops, along with additional stacks to the right and rear.

The front facade includes three attic sash windows with gauged brick and rendered keystoned heads, flanked by two blocked windows. There is an angle-bay that rises from the basement to the first floor on either side of the center, with arches on the front faces at the basement level. The ground floor features dentilled string courses and a dentilled cornice above. The front face has three plate glass windows, one on each side face, with moulded surrounds; the first and ground floors have keystoned casements in the basements below. A plat band runs over the ground floor center.

The entrance is marked by a central half-glazed door with a roundel and spiders web tracery in the fanlight above. This door is approached by curving sedan-type steps, consisting of six steps leading to an arched landing with a basement window underneath. A Doric portico with triglyph dosserets sits over the columns, topped by a dentilled, broken pediment that forms the lintels for the rear, attached half-columns. The stairs are enclosed by cast iron railings featuring lion head sculptures at the base of the columns. The right-hand return front showcases a two-storey angle bay with a dentilled cornice over the ground and first floors.
