Description

This is a former stable block and coach house, dating from the late 18th century. It has been divided into separate dwellings. The building is constructed of dun-coloured brown brick with plain tiled roofs, which step down in height and feature patterned tiles under the ridge cresting on Thamesfield Cottage, the section to the left. It stands at a right angle to the street, with Thamesfield Cottage set back from the road.

Thamesfield Cottage has two front stacks to the left, decorated with diagonal brick dentils, and a ridge stack to the left end, formerly part of Thamesfield Close (The Coach House). It features two blocked first-floor windows with gauged brick surrounds to the left. Below, there is a casement window and a panelled door with a flanking light. The gable has a bargeboard with a spike finial and a brick-dressed roundel facing the street. An angle bay window is present first floor, and another window on the ground floor features a cambered head and a gauged brick surround. Red brick quoins mark the angles of the building.

To the centre of the building are former Thamesfield Court (now 1 and 2, Thamesfield Mews). These sections have one leaded window and six plain, 20th-century casement windows on the first floor. The ground floor has a leaded, cambered-head window on the left, plain windows towards the centre and right end, and sliding garage doors in the centre. A door with a cambered head is positioned under a porch hood supported by wrought-iron scroll brackets on the left of the centre. A first-floor door to the right end is accessed by an external wooden staircase.

At the rear, the fenestration is irregular, and there is one first-floor window with an oval tracery balcony railing.

A wall, approximately 7 feet high and 30 metres long, is attached to the left side of the gable.

The building is included on the list for its group value.
