Description
The walls and gates to Sunbury Court are from the mid to late 18th century. They are made of colourwashed, rendered brick at the entrance and dun coloured brick on the return stretch facing the street. The entrance features concave curved walls set at an angle to the street, with a return wall on the left. There is a plinth that is approximately two feet high, with the wall set back above it. The outer piers at each end are about ten feet high, square in shape, and have an arched recessed panel on the front face beneath a keyed head, rising through a plat band with impost blocks. These piers have pyramidal tops with a moulded cap. The inner piers are similar and topped with spherical finials in foliate sockets. The main gates are now missing, and the return wall on the right is approximately six feet high, featuring brick-on-edge coping.
