Description
Clarence Lodge is an early 19th-century house. It is built of white painted stucco with a slate roof, lead hips, and a parapet. The house is three storeys high and features a main cornice and a band course at first floor level. A full-height bay window, splay-sided with one window on each face, is a prominent feature. There are blind recesses on the second floor. Most windows are 12-pane sashes, although some have been replaced with casement doors. A later, heavy, stained wood balcony is also present. A similar bay window is located on the south elevation. A large extension has been added to the north side. On the west front, a heavy cornice and giant order are visible. The windows are 12-pane sashes. The central part of this west front has a shallow arched recess containing a fan motif in the arch. Below this is a sub-order of Doric pilasters supporting a semicircular headed window in the centre of the three bays. A single-storey extension of three bays, with arches on pilasters, has been added.
