Description
The Old Cottage is a late 16th century cottage that has been refronted in the 19th century. It is a two-bay house with an end chimneystack, featuring timber framing. The ground floor is faced with Flemish bond brickwork, while the first floor is tile hung. The roof is old and tiled, half hipped to the right, and has an external brick stack at the end. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has two windows. The windows are 19th century casements, and there is a four-panelled door. To the left, there is a 19th century lean-to addition.
Inside, the lounge features central spine beams that are chamfered with lambs tongue stops, along with chamfered floor joists that also have similar stops. The first floor retains original floorboards and includes a spire beam with lambs tongue stops, similar floor joists, and a late 19th century frigate. The attic has original floorboards and a roof supported by through purlins and angled queen struts, with one diagonal tension brace visible.
