Description
This is a substantial house, originally built in the mid-18th century and subsequently divided into numbers 31 to 37 on High Street, Reigate. The building is two storeys high with an attic space, and originally featured four windows. It has a hipped gambrel roof, originally tiled but now covered with Welsh slate, with chimneys at each corner. Numbers 31 to 36 have an early 19th-century stucco exterior with incised lines, while number 37 displays painted brickwork. Four flat dormers, also dating to the early 19th century, are visible on the roof. The first-floor windows are sash windows with delicate glazing bars, largely dating to the early 19th century; all but the windows of number 37 are set within moulded stucco architraves. Modern shops occupy the ground floor. The rear elevation has tile hanging above and replacement windows, and includes various small commercial extensions on the ground floor and basement, which is a full height.
