Description

These 18th-century gatepiers stand at the entrance to Priory Park, near number 7. They were restored in the late 20th century. The gatepiers are constructed of brick in English bond, with stone details. Four square piers define a wide carriageway and two narrower pedestrian entrances. The inner piers rise to approximately 4 metres in height, while the outer piers are smaller, standing at around 3 metres. Each pier has a plinth, and the inner piers feature capstones topped with restored pineapple finials. The two western piers are linked by a scrolled iron bracket.
