Description

The lych gate to the Church of St. John the Baptist was built around 1865 by Henry Woodyer. It features sandstone block plinth walls with a timber-framed superstructure that supports a Horsham slab roof. The corners of the walls are accentuated with ashlar quoins. The main posts are braced and chamfered, with broach stops. There are struts from the lower braces to the collar of the hipped roof above, arched braces to the collar purlin, and a cambered collar beam at the center that supports a braced king-post. Below, there are double gates with diagonal rails.
