Description

The Crown Inn is a public house dating from the late 17th century, with 20th-century extensions at the rear. The building features a timber frame that is exposed on the front, with brick infilling and tile hanging on the first floor of the right-hand return front, along with brick extensions. It has plain tiled roofs and stands two storeys tall with attics, displaying a double gable end elevation and single-storey extensions to the end and a parallel range across the rear.

There is a multiple stack with a corbelled top located at the junction of the left-hand gable and the rear range, with additional stacks on the right and rear. The gables are adorned with moulded bargeboards and pendant finials. Each gable has one leaded casement window in the attic storey, and the first floor features tension bracing. There are two-light windows on the first floor of each gable, with the right window raised above a square bay and a hipped roof window on the ground floor. A four-light window is located on the ground floor left under a drip board.

To the left of centre, there is a gabled porch with double doors, and a single-storey range set back to the left includes a further half-glazed door. One gable once displayed the date 1687 and the initials WS on its pendant.
