Description

The stable block, now used as classrooms, is located approximately 100 metres west of Ashtead Park House and was likely built around 1790, with some alterations. It is constructed of yellow stock brick with some limestone dressings and has a slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan featuring a two-storey, three-bay centre flanked by single-storey, three-bay side ranges.

The centre block has a slightly set-back section that includes a giant round-headed archway, which is now filled with a glazed screen and double doors, and features an impost band. The outer bays have 12-pane windows on the ground floor, with the left window being sashed and the right altered into a bottom-hinged casement. On the first floor, there is a clock face on the left and a wind gauge on the right, topped by a hipped roof with a central bellcote and a weathervane.

The side ranges have round-headed recesses that contain round-headed windows, although the glazing has been altered; the left end of the range is blind. Additionally, there is a saw-toothed eaves band. An addition at the right-hand end is not of special interest, and the rear of the building has been mostly altered with various additions.
