Description

No. 54 West Street is a building dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, fronting an earlier 18th-century structure. It features a hipped tiled roof with a chimney breast at the western end and two hipped two-light casement dormer windows. The building has a moulded eaves cornice and is finished in roughcast. On the first floor, there are two canted, three-sided oriel bay windows supported by brackets, with intact glazing bars. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front. This building is included for its group value with Nos. 54 to 61 West Street, which form a cohesive architectural group. A photograph of the building is available in the National Monuments Record.
