Description
This building is a barn located approximately 40 metres southwest of Robins Farmhouse. It is likely from the late 15th century or early 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The barn is timber-framed and features weatherboard cladding from the 19th or 20th century, topped with a corrugated iron roof. It consists of three bays, with a central cart entry that has been partially boarded up and fitted with 20th-century garage doors. There is a small leaded casement window at the left end and a former doorway on the right that has been boarded up. Lean-tos added in the 20th century are present on both sides but are not of special interest.
At the rear, there is a plinth made of Sussex bond brick and some sandstone rubble. The lower opposing cart entry has been boarded across and features a later doorway, with a window to the right. Inside, the frame includes three wide panels above and below the midrail in each bay, with jowelled wall posts and large arched braces connecting to the wall plate and tie-beams. The roof was replaced in the 20th century. The central bay has a brick threshing floor, while the outer bays contain cow stalls that date from the 19th or early 20th century.
