Description
The Bridgman Monument is a tomb chest located approximately 8 metres south of the corner of the chancel of the Church of St Giles. It dates from the early 18th century and commemorates William Bridgman, who died in 1727. The monument is made of limestone ashlar and is designed in a classical style. It features panelled sides and ends, with wide vase-profile corners that have gadroon decoration at the base and egg-and-dart detailing at the top. The lid has a moulded edge and bears an elegantly lettered inscription dedicated to William Bridgman, described as "Citizen and Salter of London."
