GV II Threshing barn. Later C17, possibly extended by one bay in late C18 and with a c1800 outshot. The former cattlesheds, attached at the north-east corner are not of special interest.

MATERIALS: Timberframed, part clad in weatherboarding with some corrugated iron sheeting and brickwork. Tiled roof.

PLAN: Four bays with cart entrance in penultimate bay to the north and outshot to east of two southern bays.

EXTERIOR: Clad in weatherboarding to the east and north sides but the south end and north part of the west wall now covered in corrugated iron sheeting. The south part of the west wall is now covered in corrugated iron sheeting to the upper part and has been rebuilt in brickwork with buttresses below the midrail. Tiled roof, gabled to the south and half-hipped to the north. The south eastern outshot has a deep brick plinth in Flemish bond and is weatherboarded above. The off central cart entrances remain, without doors, but a pintle hinge remains to the southern edge of the eastern cart entrance.

INTERIOR: The wall frame has a midrail and diagonal braces to the corners and adjoining the cart entrances. The upright posts are without jowls except for the four posts adjoining the cart entrances. The roof structure has an angled queenpost roof with clasped purlins and pegged rafters. The attached outshot is of three bays with tie beam and angled queen strut to the purlins.

HISTORY: Shown with current footprint on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1871.

SUMMARY OF IMPORTANCE: A pre-1700 threshing barn with later C18 additions and forming part of a farm group.
