Description

This is a group of four 17th-century timber-framed cottages located on DENE STREET. They form a block with a projecting east-west wing, featuring a gable facing south and another at the north end. The roof is tiled, and a central chimney stack is present. Number 35 has a stuccoed facade with horizontal bands above the ground and first floors. Numbers 36, 37, and 38 have been plastered on the lower levels and are tile-hung above. Number 35 includes one bricked-up window and one sash window with intact glazing bars. Numbers 36, 37, and 38 each have four windows. The ground floor of Number 38 features two-light casement windows and sliding sashes, arranged irregularly. Plain wooden boarded doors lead into numbers 36, 37, and 38, each with a flat hood supported by brackets. A chimney breast is located on the gable end behind the cottages, with a visible fire company mark on Number 35. Timber framing is visible on the northern wall and behind the cladding. A photograph of the cottages is held within the National Monuments Record.
