Description
Nos 168 and 170 on High Street are two small shops dating from the 18th century. The building has two storeys and an attic, with three windows and two dormers. It is faced with rough cast and has a slate roof. No 168 features a modern window and shop window, while No 170 has two first-storey windows with narrow glazing bars that are intact. There is a large projecting hood over the ground floor and a three-sided bay window with glazing bars intact, except for the topmost section. Below the window, there are white tiles. In 1950, the window had detachable sections. No 170 also has one modern window on the ground floor to the west and one contemporary sash window with glazing bars at the extreme west. The back portion of No 170 is timber-framed and oversails on the first floor facing Dene Street. Nos 132 to 156 (even) and Nos 164 to 170 (even) form a group.
