Description
Nos 140 and 142 High Street are part of the White Horse Hotel, featuring an early 19th century front attached to a 17th century red brick gabled building known as the Dutch House. The exterior is now covered in stucco with a capped parapet. The structure is three storeys high and has six windows, topped with a tiled roof. There are chimney stacks at the eastern end, located behind and to the left of the centre. The tops of two hipped dormers can be seen above the parapet. The second storey has sash windows with intact glazing bars, while the first storey features tall French windows with iron balconettes for Nos 140 and 142. These two properties make up the westernmost part of the White Horse Hotel and include a large 19th century bay window on the ground floor, which is similar to the two other bay windows in the adjacent timber-framed section of the hotel. Nos 132 to 156 (even) and Nos 164 to 170 (even) are part of the same group.
