Description

Albury House is a house dating back to the 17th century, with additions made in the early 18th century. Further extensions were added along the street front by M Tupper in 1852, and the building was remodelled in a Tudor Gothic style. The original core is timber-framed and clad in whitewashed roughcast, with plain tiled roofs. The building is roughly T-shaped, with the oldest part located at the rear.

The front of the house, which is at a right angle to the street, has two storeys and attics, with gables. The central section features two gabled end bays, with a plat band above the first floor. Each gable has a single sash window; the first-floor window is a tripartite sash with triangular head glazing. An angled bay extension to the right has ornamental eaves decoration, with a sash window in the angled sides and flat face. The ground floor has central glazed doors, and to the right is a double casement door with triangular head glazing. A gabled porch has quatrefoil decoration to the bargeboards and double ribbed and studded doors. A whitewashed wing extends at a right angle to the left, and there are further extensions at the rear.
